History

Skerries Bowling Club was established in 1983. At first is was only possible to play indoor bowls in the Community Centre but later, with the help of Fingal County Council, the club acquired its own ground and in 1993, with the help of a prize bonds win, laid down the first synthetic carpet in the Republic.
We are affiliated to the Bowling League of Ireland (BLI), the Irish Bowling Association (IBA), the Ladies Bowling league of Ireland (LBLI) and the International World Bowls Association (IWBA). Two of our members have held prominent positions in the BLI and LBLI; Edward Jackson was president of BLI in 1996 and 2010, and Eugenie Walsh was president of LBLI in 2011.
We have about 80 members and we enter teams each year in the league and cup competitions run by the BLI. Members can also take part in the Winter League, and club competitions which are run throughout the year.
Our new club house was opened in June 2008. It contains changing rooms, a kitchen, and a large multi-purpose space which is regularly used for indoor bowling and for hosting visiting teams.
Members and visitors comment on the club's convivial social atmosphere and good facilities.
